Tonight I published a new course that’s close to my heart.

When I had to say goodbye to my dog, Dudley, a few years ago I marked on the cremation form for them to make a cement imprint of his paw. But when I returned to pick up his ashes, they said they forgot to make his paw print and now I’ll never have it.

When it came time to say goodbye to Ollie (who’s featured in this class), I took matters into my own hands to make sure we’d have his paw print forever.

The result is this new course: “Crafting 3D Printable Gifts for Beginners”

You do not need a 3D printer to take this course. You’ll learn how to make a gift from scratch all the way through photogrammetry (turning pictures into a 3D object) and clean it up in Blender so that it is 3D printable.

Both softwares we’ll use in this course are free to download and use. The printing service, Shapeways.com, only cost $27 to print the example you see in the course of the paw print. If you use the referral code P2NHK you can get 15% off your first print with Shapeways.

I really hope you enjoy this course. It’s a quick real-world application of these fancy softwares that you shouldn’t be intimidated by and these techniques can be applied in many different creative ways.

I can’t wait to see what you create. As always, this course is now available to all members of DCS. Simply purchase a basic or premium membership to gain access to all 70+ hours of courses on the site.

Best,
Lucas

P.S. Here’s the link to the course again.
