How To Be Productive

When learning any discipline but especially digital arts, there are so many subjects and possibilities sometimes it’s hard to be productive.

With so many choices available we have to make a decision on what to start working on next. There’s a parable about a donkey between two bails of hay and starves to death because it can’t decide which one to start eating.

That’s how procrastination can happen with too many choices and goals. Once a list starts building in my head of all the things I need or want to do or learn then I find myself slowly becoming paralyzed and not sure where to start. That uncertainty leads to inaction and low productivity.

It’s as if you’re at the start of a race and there’s multiple paths to take. You can’t take them all at once so you either have to choose and forgo those other paths, or you don’t take any and you’re stuck at the starting line.
