I designed the logo in my spare time so it took several months since I couldn’t devote all my time to it. Iterating was a very big part of the process. I started with broad concepts of education and sketched out many ideas.
I drew with pen and paper for most of the process and only used Illustrator during the final exploration. At the bottom you can see how I iterated very quickly in Illustrator by making small tweaks to the design and comparing them.
Below is the evolution of the final logo. I got feedback right up until the website launched. The final adjustment was adding a small mark on the bottom of the D opening.
I’m happy with how it turned out and tip my hat to all full-time designers out there that make a living doing this work, it’s more challenging than you might expect.
